"It has a main character who is a hit-man, killed many and has a name, Bishop"
"It has the best twisted in the storyline"
"It is the best violent movie that has an ACTUAL USABLE Moral of story.."

Self-Leadership 101: Introduction

Okay, today I am going to talk about self leadership. A topic that is in my interest for a long time and have done some research on it.

You all may ask these few questions:

(1) What is self-leadership?

(2) Why do I need it?

(3) Is it different from the other types leadership?

As for today, I will be focusing on these 3 questions.

First, what is self-leadership?

Self-leadership as the name implies, is about how you lead and guide your own self in your life. When we are young, many decisions that impacted us maybe made by our parents, those who have more experiences in life than us. As we grow older, there seems to be more decisions that are to be made by ourselves and we are to face the consequences to the decisions we've made. Coming into adulthood, you are totally responsible for your own being. This is where self-leadership comes in.

Self-leadership talks about how you can become a lead of yourself, commanding, guiding yourself to achieve your goals as how you would with leadership in a team whereby you lead others.

What is good (or adequate) self-leadership? I have summarize them in 5 main points.

1. I love myself

This implies that you are willing to accept whatever, however, whoever you are. No matter how are good and bad you are, on the inside and on the outside. Willing to accept the fact does not neccessary means you agree to that fact. For example, I am fat, I accept that I am fat, but i does not neccessary accept that fat is good cause, obesity can bring health issues.

2. I am willing to take changes

In life there are many situations where you can expect and not expect. To be a good self-leader, you are to allow changes to be made in your life. You are to embrace changes that if the changes is for the better. With willingness to take changes, it also means that you are willing to listen to critism. You are willing to improve and acquire new knowledge and skills if possible.

3. I am passionate on what is ahead

Passionate does not means that you have to jump up and down to cheer on what is to come~ You can do that, but different people have different style of being passionate. But the point is that, being passionate about what is ahead is about that you are always looking forward to the next point in life. If you are not, there is no point of having good self-leadership if you are not looking forward. Without passion, President Obama would not be standing in front of millions addressing his speech.

4. I sacrifice what is necessary

For everything we buy, there is a price to pay. Some are high and some are low. John C. Maxwell said this "...I reminded myself that I have to give up to go up" Sometimes, we have to give up things in order to process. It can something we love, something we like, something we don't like. Nonetheless, it is important to see that if that sacrifices is worth. Something like family or relationship are somethings that I would not sacrifices. You just have to be wise on it.

5. I keep firm to my principles

Principles are what differentiates us as human. A person without principles is like a person without dignity. Everyone's principle might be different and that is ok. If someone does not keep firm to his/her principles, his/her decision making quavers whenever subjected to the opinions of others. We are the author of our lives, every decision we make, we are the ones to face those consequences. Stay firm to what you believe in, your principles, and make changes to the principles if necessary. As long as you keep firm to your principles, you have a clear mind of what is your decision.

I will share in more details on the 5 points in the days to come.

Okay, so you asked, why do I need this so called 'self-leadership'?

Well, do you want to achieve what you've dream for? Do you want to be better than what you are now? Do you hunger for something on the other side of the pasture?Do you want to earn more $ for you and your family? Do you want to get a better relationship? Do you want to get that red hot Ferrari that you have longed for in a shorter time?

If you answer yes, then you need to make sure that you are leading yourself well, self-leadership

Lastly, is this leadership much different than the other types of leadership?

Yes, because it is all about yourself!

No, because it is also about to how lead an individual (that is YOU!)

Leadership: Nature vs. Nurture

Greetings,

It has been a long time since I've blog. Because of "someone" asked me to blog something, that's why I blog this post. After thinking for a long while on what to blog. I just thought of sharing some experience of mine to you all.

Leadership, this word can be a word of different definitions to different people, egoism, power, guide, motherly, fatherly, money, success...etc. Nevertheless, it is undeniably that leadership does make a SIGNIFICANT IMPACT to one's lives!

In today's world, there is a hot age-old debate on whether Leaders are Born or Formed?

Here are my opinions, it does not matter whether you are born a leader or not. It matter whether you have the desire, the passion to be a leader or not. However, here it comes to the question of:

Does the "leadership genes" in a person actually contributes to his/her character of becoming a leader? Well, no one (at least that I know of) have that answer. You can say that these genes can be some sort of an initiator for a leader to be slowly formed.

Nonetheless, it has been scientifically shown that a baby when he/she is growing up, pickups majorly from what he/she learns from the environment. That is what babies do and how they learn. The like to play monkey see monkey do~

From my own personal experience, I can say that I may have been a "born leader" but I also greatly acknowledge that I pick up my inspiration and passion of being a leader from my dad who is a leader in his field, education. He inspires me from his life as a headmaster with lots of teachers and students under his leadership.

To me, it is not important whether you are born as a leader or not cause I strongly believe that leadership can be developed within an individual. "Look forward to what you can be and not looking backward on what you could have been."

With that, you may ask what is the importance having leadership? Why do I have to be a leader? Can't others be the leader? Well, leadership is not only about leading a team, it is also about leading yourself. I will share in the next post of what is leading yourself and how can you lead yourself to a better life and towards your goals that you aimed for.

To conclude this post, in leadership, it is 20% nature and 80% nurture. Nature without nurture goes nowhere. So, leaders can be made even if you does not have the "leadership gene".

Hi, first of all, sorry for not posing up my dietary diet....lost track due to busy schedule, Sorry george, sorry george...T.T

Nonetheless, something cheer my spirit up today (juz now). For the 1st time, I won something for my photography after this second attempt for a contest. Just submitting not with my fullest effort due to busy schedule. But, a surprise...wow...i dunno what to say, I won 2nd prize.

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 12

Day 12. A bit down today....dunno why....or maybe i know why....juz dun wan to see that why....sienz....

Anywayz, the post must go on.

Brunch, A small portion of kueh teow mix bee hoon with veges and egg~
Dinner, banana fritters, karipap, egg~ I think i need to cut on the SUPER HIGH CALORIE food, BANANA FRITTER...T.T

Exercise, went to gym to do cardio for around 1 hour. Ok ok nia.

So, that is my day~ Not much in the mood today.

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 11

Dinner, fried toufu, guava, biscuit and oatmeal lor. Like tat nia,

No overbudget, no exercise.....Haiz...where is the motivation?????

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 9+10

Two days goes by in a jiffy~ Man, time does flies.

Day 9

Brunch - 3 Chicken wings with 1 plate of Mee Goreng and 2 pcs of fried rolls. All these are from CV! outing at Tanjung Beach. It is the first time I was engulf in such overwhelming atmosphere. The beach is literally people mountain people sea (人山人海). I think it was because of 1st of May, everyone especially those who are in the working community (haha, luckily I am still a student at least for now). U have people from Tai Po (大埔) association to Youth (少团) from different churches. Parties are everywhere!

Dinner - Not actually dinner but just a thanksgiving meal at Grace Church. Aunty Roseline prepared nuggets, Yum Yum! and egg sandwich, one of my favouritez~ Wee~ So, i think i went a bit overboard for that, 5 nuggets and 7 (quarter pieces) of egg sandwich.

So, the budget is considered RM 0 for Day 9 but did also some grocery shopping at Boulevard. Pawee~ So many people, itz like everyone pakat to do shopping at the same day~ Miri's population is too much~ Too much "rabbits" fooling around.

Day 10

Lunch - A variety of veges, 1 salted egg (not good for health but wat the heck), 5 pieces of 1/3 hotdogs and a Kolok Bee Hoon

Dinner - 2 Karipap, 1 Coconut bun, 7 banana fritters.

Budget - RM 9.50. ^.^ Exercise, Badminton lo....not much people playing, so did not reli burn much Kcal.

Comments

Its already Day 10, I think I need some motivation to push me further as progress seems stagnant. Any suggestions?

I need to do more exercise to burn those lipo & lipids off under my skin. More rigorous exercise!

I need to lessen the consumption. So, I think I decide to cut either on lunch or dinner. Lunch to vegetables only and dinner to fruits only. Hmmm...lets try it tomorrow and see~

Hey, totally forgot to write for Day 7, so now will go two days in one post.

Day 7,

Had Bee Hoon Wet with Cangkuk Manis and a Pieces of meat.

Dinner, Cangkuk Manis.

Exercise, WOOO~!!! 1 hour of Body Combat! A fat Killer!

Overbudget by RM 0.50

Day 8

Today...hmm...ate breakfast, fried kueh teow with egg and sausage.

Ate late lunch and kinda like late dinner too. Ate just a few pieces of kuih, around i think 8 pieces in total for both meals.

And went to watch Ip Man 2, Sweet Mama! A movie that is a MUST WATCH! Check it out for yourself

Good Action, Good Choreography, nice storyline and a little added surprise at the end.

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 6

Oh my, itz day SIX already. Before setting goals, lets see what have we done today.

Had Brunch (Breakfast +Lunch), so I am technically not skipping breakfast. Had a plate of Kolok Bee Hoon with Tofu Curd, Vege and 1 pcs of nugget. Trying to keep the budget at RM 4 but it turn out to be RM 4.50 with RM 0.50 for the nugget. Stupid nugget, should not have pick u up~ =.=!

Anyways, for dinner. Cangkuk Manis, same thing RM6. If anyone wonder what is Cangkuk Manis, here is how it looks like. Its a leafy vege stirred fried with eggs (Yum Yum!)

In terms of exercise, NONE~! George! What are u doing?!

So, here is the verdict. 60% success as there is no exercise. Overbudget by RM0.50

Next goal. Exercise more vigorously. Keep lunch to vegetables as it is coming to a week now. Need improvement.

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 5

Day 5. Both good and bad.

Had breakfast finally, fried kueh teow with egg (Yum Yum!). Actually, I planned to skip lunch but my stomach called me at around 2.30pm. Here is the conversation.

Stomach: "Wei! Send something down here ler!"

George: "Dun wan lah, diet ler, ate Kueh Teow already lo le leh, where is it?"

Stomach: "Walieu eh~ Kueh Teow....Kueh Teow ur head la! Itz down at ur ~~ass~~ bowel 4 hours ago."

George: "Ya meh? True or not????"

Stomach: "......."

Brain: "According to the record, Mr. George ate a plate of Char Kueh Teow with egg at 9.30am"

George: "Aiyah......but need to eat now kah...."

Stomach: "U better send some food down here or u will.........(angry tone) KNOW!"

George: "Ok...Ok...Ok.....Dun angry lah, stop growling plz~"

So, thatz how I got a pack of Char Been Hoon for lunch.

For dinner, had Cangkuk Manis. This time got excercise, jogging for around 30 minutes. Glad to have excercise, keep the mind refresh and motivate to do work. Thus, I manage to clear some backlogs of my extra co-curricular activities.

Summary, not bad. But over budget by RM 2. Keep improving, George!

Next target, lunch -> Veges only. Dinner still cangkuk manis. More strained exercise for 30 mins.

Hello, guyz. Muah is back for Day 4. Never imagine I would go to this far. Actually, I was so tempted to not write this blog post. Nonetheless, my pal Amanda reminded me. So, here is my menu for today.

Skip Breakfast once again. Bad, George~

Lunch, 1 plate of kueh teow + egg (good for brain) = RM 2.60

1 teh-o-peng XXL = RM 1.50

Dinner, Cangkuk Manis (No rice) = RM 6.00

So that is my menu for today. Target ACHIEVED!

Excercise, walking or some sort of strolling for 1/2 hour.

As a conclusion, target achieve, exercise still need improvement. Next target, continue cangkuk manis for dinner and maintain exercise time.

I am starting another diary which is to keep my food budget to RM 10.

Hi, all. Okay, day 3.

Skip Breakfast.
Lunch, bee hoon with cangkuk manis again with drumstick and hotdog and tauge.
Dinner, 2 pcs of pizza, 1 mushroom soup, 6 nugget, 1 apple pie and a few stains of fries. I was so tempted to buy a Double Fillet-O-Fish as it was on promo. Nonetheless, manage to say no. Yeah!

Excercise for around an hour in badminton. Wee~ So long didnt play liao.

In conclusion, got improvement but more to go. Next target, lessen dinner to just cangkuk manis and fruits.

Go go go~

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 2

Wow, never come to realize that I would write for the second day. I would usually feel lazy and skip the second day. But nonetheless, I told myself, write it, boy. So, here is the record of second day.

Once again skip breakfast. Had Char Bee Hun and Mixed Vege and 1 kepak Ayam for Lunch (Heavy, rite?)

Dinner, Char Bee Hun with Changkuk Manis and Guava Juice and Banana Fritters.

No excercise, was busy with the something else. But not the excuse for not excercise.

Summary, need to work harder, George!

3 Weeks Diet Diary: Day 1

It has always been my mission to slim down. For ages I have tried and failed with different kind of methods. The problem with me is that I am easily slipped, not catious at all. So, I have decided to do this 3 weeks diet diary. This blog will help me keep accountable to both myself and my readers. I will start with 3 weeks 1st and see how things go at the end. Okay, here are the rules.

- I will have to write down everything that I consume in this blog at the end of the day.

- I will have to note down any excercise that I have done.

- I will have to only eat 3 meals max, no more but can less.

- I will have to excercise of any kind for at least 30 minutes per day.

Okay, so, I just need a little help from you guys. If you see me, remind me, "You are on diet, pal!"

I think that is all from.

So, LETS START!

So here is it.
Ate 2 meals, skip breakfast.
Had a plate of kueh teow with cangkuk manis
Had dinner (vegetarian) + Kari Pap + Burger

Not very good for a start day but hopefully will proceed better tml.

Behind the scene: These photographs are taken using my N86, I myself was impress with the quality. I was lucky to meet upon this lovely stallion on the way back from lunch with my pal, Willie. This red stallion is just resting peacefully by the roadside near Cherry Berry Alley awaiting its owner to ride it away. Without hesitation, I quickly grab a few moments of shoots of this magnificent creature.Wowee!

Recommended Movie: < Australia >

I know that its kinda like expired to view this movie. Nonetheless, I do have to confess that it is a nice movie in its own turf. The movie is basically a mix of real life Australia Historical events and love story and family importance.

There are few issue that was really reviewed in this movie. One of it being, the Stolen Generations. Wiki it to know more. Another is the importance of looking beyond racism. Nicole Kidman play it well as the mother figure to an aboriginal boy, Nullah (Brandon Walter). It shows that love and care is not limited to just blood and close relationship. It can go across borders and race. Just if here in Malaysia, people can see the bare importance of that.

All in all, itz a good movie, 8/10. It is around 2 hours 45 minutes but never a part boring. Don't want to be a spoiler for those who haven't watch it. Go download it or BUY it at SPEEDY or any VCD Stores. Worth the watch. Just enjoy it~

Mission Trip for Him

I just came back from a mission trip. The first time with a Miri church since I start settling here. It was a terrific experience, a self-learning one too. With this trip, I learnt a lot. God teach me a lot of lessons through the programs, workshop. Well, I will stop here first. Damn tired, but worth every penny and sweat and laughter. Manage to put together a nice set of photo from the place. Below are two separate photo taken at half a minute apart in which the colour of the sky has already changed. Reminds you the Amazing Creation of God.

Last Chinese New Year, I was trying out kids photography at my Auntie's house. The model here is the cute little kid whom keeps everyone guessing about his/her gender. Kinda hard to differentiate. Nonetheless, do drop comments. Enjoy!

The thing about kids photography is that, in order to get good expression from them, the key is to keep them interesting. The environment has to be fun. Like giving a ~~beer can~~ drink can to him/her. Ooops.....

Bears From BBHK 《香港BB熊仔》

Around a few months ago, I got to know a madam from Boys' Brigade Hong Kong. Her name is Priscilla, a nice young lady. A friend with much to talk about. The Boys' Brigade in Hong Kong is celebrating their 50th Anniversary, they have this souvenier bear on sale.

I was suppose to go for the International BB Camp in HK, but due to University commitment, I decide to cancel. God is interesting sometimes, He knows that I am dissapointed on not able to go. Nonetheless, He introduce me to this madam, Priscilla through Facebook. To even surprise me more, this great madam decide to buy me a pair of Boys' Brigade bear soft toy, limited edition. Cool!

After a long wait, it finally here. In MY ROOM! Wee~!

Used my Nokia N86 to snap a few pictures. To be frank, was also surprise the quality of the picture is good.

First of all, like to thank Mdm. Priscilla. Thus, used Photoshop to made this.

Blood Donation Anniversary

Curtin Volunteers! has a semester-ly Blood Donation Drive today. Since the first day I started donating, it has get me donating almost every semester. This is the 4th time already, wow! It seems like an addiction but I dun think so. ^.^ Nonetheless, addiction or not, donating blood has a lot of benefits.

One, it is healthy for your body as the your body replenish the lost of blood with FRESH NEW blood cells that helps to oxygenate your body cells.

Secondly, your pint of blood can determine whether a person who is in need has to die to live a day longer to see their love ones.

Thirdly, it will uplift your morale after donating. Trust me~

Here are some picture to share.

Thank God, I have O+ blood which has a wide range of people to help.

By the way, O+ people are the most kind hearted people, they can give to all blood type but receive only O+.

Look at my blood. Luckily for me, they manage to easily fine my bloody vein this time.
They use to double-poke me just to get to the vein.

Although the needle looks big (it really is) but you feel zero pain. They have anesthetic to put you in painless mode. So, no worries! The only sting is from the anesthetic needle.

If you feel dizzy when look at blood, then, DON'T LOOK!
Turn away until everything is done and vualah~

Nonetheless, there are few preparation you need to comply before donation.

(1) SLEEP WELL!

(2) DO NOT DRINK COFFEE or ANY CAFFEINE

(3) EAT before you donate

(4) Make SURE you are FREE FROM ILLNESS

(5) BE ABOVE UNDERWEIGHT

Then, you are the perfect specimen to donate you red bloody liquid.

Give it a go, IT SAVES LIFE~

Chinese New Year Bazaar @ Miri

Chinese New Year is around the corner. For me, kinda exciting as this is the first time to experience the Chinese New Year vibes here. At the same time, t'was invited to go to some photo shooting at the Chinatown in Miri with a friend Eric. The bazaar was nice, with all the decorations, a giant god of fortune. The food was nice but one particular cuisine that was everywhere is the "Kuching Open Market No.30 Siew Bee". So, well, enjoy.

A Night at Cafe Rosita

After a long awaited appointment, finally went to Cafe Rosita at Dynasty Hotel with some of my pals as some of them are leaving soon. Anyways, decides to pick up my long rusty photography instinct. The food is not as nice as before but well, what do we have to complain since we have the best thing, friendship and fellowship. My old lady is creating a lot of noise tonight, dunno why. But, hope you all enjoy.

Sportman Attempt

Brought my Sony H50 to badminton session. Since the guyz are taking their sweet time to arrive, I went to took some photos. Wanted to try out sports' shoot for quite a while. Here is the result. Just one as it is one of the best. The others has the problem of too much noise. With the Sony H50, there are a lot of noise in artificial illuminated places like in the hall where it is lighted up via spot lights. On the otherhand, I think my Sony H50 is getting querky like a woman who is going through mid-life crisis...@.@. Anyways, enjoy~

Niah Adventure

Belated posting: On the 1st day of year 2010, took four of my boys to Niah National Park, Miri. It was fun, its a first time for all of them, a second for me. Roughly, we took about 4 plus hours to arrive in the Painting Cave and out back to the HQ. Due to my "old" age, we took a rest at the chalet for a night before driving back to Miri. The driving will take around 1hr 45mins to 2hrs depending on how fast you drive. I was driving around 100km/hr, arrive in 1-50mins.

Niah Cave is one of the oldest cave in the world and one of the biggest too. Niah Cave can be divided into two major cave, The Great Cave and The Painting Caves. The Great Cave is the nearest cave from HQ. It will probably take you around 1hr 30mins to reach there. The other, Painting Cave is further in, you will have to go through slippery dung covered floors and zero visibility dark passage way to reach there.

This time, we went all the way to the Painting Cave. Yes, we walked on poo and through dark passage ways, smell the "fragrant" air, swarm by swallow and bats. But all was worth as even deep inside the Great Cave and dark path ways, there are magnificent views. Huge rocks, boulders, great walls that has been there for centuries. It will get you to just say, "Aw....." Reminding you on the greatness of God's Creating Hands.

By the way, did I mention, the Great Cave is one of the cave that produces a Chines famous delicacy, Birds' Nest, 燕窝. Reapers, haha, like to call them that, have to climb up a more than 10 meter long bambo to reach the ceiling of the cave and harvest the nest. And of course, no animals are armed in the process. The nest that they collect are the nest that have been abandoned by the swallow long time ago (not so long actually, only after they've checked out).

Bye Bye Badminton String

String O String, I broken u. Heart breaking....
Was playing badminton halfway and it snapped~!
No wonder my smash is like a sissy-smash :P

Here is what you do when your badminton string snapped, even itz just one string. It is important to cut it all away, YES.....every single string on the badminton racquet. If not, it will cause imbalance tension throughout the badminton frame which end up in twisted frame that will cost u a lot MORE....

This is what u do lor,

Here, you can see that it is jusssst...a string gone.

Just use a simple scissor. Remember to say Goodbye.

And SNAPPED! You can either cut vertical or horizontal first.

Here, i choose to cut the horizontal lines. Every string you cut, you will hear a snap. It is releasing tension.

It is wise to do it as fast as you can so not to create long period of uneven tension.

Then, you just cut the remaining vertical (or horizontal line) which will also snap when you cut it.

Although the horizontal line are cut, there are still tension within the remaining vertical lines.

Here are the bundle of removed strings. Keep it as you wish.

Finally, your badminton frame will be free of any tension and ready for restring.

Remember to check the frame for any bend or twist. If yes, let the sports equipment expert knows and he/she will fix it for you.

Car Shot

One of the first few times to take shoots at cars. This time it'z my long time sec. school friend, Brendan who ask me to help him out. Got to learn something through this experience too. Learn how to angle here and there. With some help my the technical advisor, my bro. Venue: Sibu Enjoy.

Some historical background: This Nissan Sunny 130Y was formerly know as Datsun 1000 B11 Series. Was quite popular among car junkies in Malaysia. It has that old but coolness to it. For this babe of my friend, it was driven by a cool junkie in the oldies, his grandpa. Is was restored to current state a few years back. Since then, my friend had fallen in love with this car and vow to never leave his hands off the steering wheel. Was repainted with metallic gold finishing. Side window was taken from another Sunny with the interior almost revamped and cleaned. This is his Sunny now.

Done some effect to give that nostalgic feel to it...looks a bit weird digitally though.

For this, i pumped up the saturation just to match the original coloring of the car itself as color details faded after editing.

Hi, all.

Long time since I blog. So, just want to take the chance to let out some of my emotions through bloging. People say, itz healthier but suicidal, but what the hell.

These few weeks has been quite a mentally roller coaster for me, taking me up and down with just a switch. Can this boy get a smoother ride.....

Hmmm...got a few slaps in the face waking me up, realizing the world in University is not as beautiful as those Marketing people sells (sorry ah..). Well, it has the ugliest face you can ever face with.

Fate is also one of the player of your life in University. Putting you with different people of extreme personality and different situation. Especially, people who is de-motivating others in the midst of tension. Like eating an atom bomb after drinking nuclear fluid.

It is painful with the words that spells, NO MORE TRUSTING YOU, which became the hidden message.

It has scrapped me off the confidence chair and making an insecure woman out of me. I have now lost confidence in anything I do, particularly in my job as a student.

I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET ON ANYMORE......

Glimpse of Life + BCF

I am finally back in my hometown. Wee, time to relax~! But got bored after a few dayz. I started to think about life. I suddenly have this thought...

Life as a student is like having sex. You play during early of the semester. After a while, only then you start poking into the serious stuff. Then you slowly build up your rhythm but not to the fullest as you say "there is still more time". In the middle of the semester where all the assignments starts pilling up, you say "Oh, baby, why make me so hard?" But then, you accelerate because you know that it is now or never. At the climax of tension, you feel each inch of your muscle tense up and you go" This is it~! The final push~!" Woo~! After finishing the assignments with long sleepless nites, you MOAN lifelessly on the couch or on the bed like u dun ever wan to move as if had the best sex of your life. Ya, life is like making love. Tons of it... Emm...Emm...Emm....

That is life through the glimpse of my hand(not actually my hand in the picture below).

Anywayz, as I was saying. I got bored eventually in this little Kampua town. With Borneo Cultural Festival here, I just grab my old rust cam and off I go. Manage to snap a few glimpse of my hometown for you all.

The following comprises of Day 1 and Day 2 of Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF). Will report a few highlights. Enjoy~!

Lots of tents (below) were set up for vendor of all kinds to do business cause Hey, my Hometown is a money making town. Lolx.

Some of them are for performances and competitions like this Dayak musical competition with a few old champs. Well, to be frank, i still could not figure out on why woman like to bang into hard stuff. Geez...No wonder they have the major population.

"Kebab" is one of the delicacy that could be found in Sarawak. It is a bun which is long with a slit to put in all the juicy meat which is stuffed hot into it with a touch of Mayonease and Ketchup. Although it bears the similar name for a Middle East dish but i can guarantee that this "Kebab" will give you a whole new Sarawakian experience. It can be in two major flavour, Chick and Cow. And there are selling it in right here at BCF. One of the best place to get it is at somewhere near a river. Will take you there sometime.

Besides food, there are also business group who ride the train. Like EON here, I was pretty curious on which part of you that they are focusing. If they are on doing it right, oh..ya... count me in~! FYI, EON is a banking group (duh...stupid me). I wonder if "Erotic Orgy Nightclub" is the full term for EON.

In my hometown, we are made up of diverse population. We do also have a range of hot chicks. Let me introduce them to you. You can find all of them in BCF, i know i do. Lolx.

First, you have the teenager who likes to go for round town posession in black at night. These are the Nightstalkerlie. But the good thing about them is that they are so passionate about what they are doing. They are willing to walk for almost two hours for the round town posession. To be frank, these are the cream of the cream. FYI, there are from St. Elizabeth Girls School where it is a forbidden heaven for guyz. Ahh.....

Second, we have the proper attired gals. They represent almost all the ethnic groups of chinese. Why are they hot? Think for urself.

Third, we have the PROFESSIONAL MODELS who are willing to show off their culture in front of thousands.

Lastly, we have the all the lovely lady holding senior citizenship who wears pink to contrast their age. Well, it might work. One thing for sure is that they have strong hands with all the banging on the drum that they are doing during the posession. Bang waist drum as they call it is one of the oldest culture found in Chinese history. It is an art~!

There are a few different dialects spoken in my hometown. They all represents different clans which are brought to Malaysia from Mainland China or rather came to Malaysia themselves. Chinese were the early settler in Sarawak along with the British. Some evidences proposed that our Ancestor from Mainland China touch down in Sarawak even before James came to the land of Hornbills.

One of the nortorous clan in my hometown.

One of the major population too. My hometown is called Little Foochow.
The International Foochow HQ is right here.

Besides that, BCF does also display some Chinese traditional customs like the Lion Dance and the Dragon Dance. Way back in the olden days, you can only find Lion Dances in only a few times around the year. They are believed to be auspicious creatures that brings luck but does the opposite if you disrespect it.

My hometown does possesses a few nice architectures. One of it being the corridor (走廊).

Also, the tallest building where you can find it from different angle, Wisma Sanyan. Looking closer, you will find out that the building is looks like its showing its power and glory with a ever familiar middle finger display. And ya, that building contains the few most powerful people in my hometown. Its their working place. This is my hometown version of WTO.

Like I mentioned, my hometown is a diverse place for culture race and also religion. We are able to live together in harmony and peace. Look at this example. A church and temple just walk ways apart. That church is one of the oldest church in my hometown.

During this BCF, the Sibu Art Association (SAA) and Photography Society do some exhibition. When I got to know it, I was so excited. I was like "go go go" . Only through bodies like these, then can hobbist or even professional wanna be can learnt more on the skills and technique. Thanks to them~!

This picture attracts my attention at first sight is because this artist depics the real scene that you can find in the market of Sibu. Where you have the all the colourful canopies, people bargaining and goods lying all around.

This pencil drawing pictured a place where once the old jetty is. I still rememeber that place when I was small. That tree, I think still stands in that place until now. This jetty really brings back the childhood memories where you will just lean by the black and yellow bars enjoying the view of the river with no worries. Even when your mum says "dun lean, you will fail into the river" and you dun give a crap coz itz fun.

Talking about food food food, Sibu is famous for cheap food among all the major places in Sarawak. You still get a plate of Mee for RM2.00 and Teh C Peng at RM1.20. In schools, one pack of Kampua is RM0.80. There is also one delicacy which stand among the famous ones like Kampua and Kompia, that delicacy is Shou Mian (寿面). If you translate it directly, it is called Longevity Mee. In Chinese culture, Foochow in particular, Shou Mian is eaten during birthdays and big festivals like Chinese New Year. It symbolizes longevity for the family. Old people like my grandparents, like to say "dun break the mee when you eat, so the longer the mee you eat, the longer you will live". Now, I was thinking, if i were to continue eating without breaking the mee, I would have choke to death. Shou Mian originated from Foochow culture. Below is the picture of an art which can be considered near to extinction, the art of making Shou Mian.

Making Shou Mian is excruciating, you have to dry it, pull it, dry it, keep it and dry it again. All these are doing by hand. Nowadays, we have the machine to do that. But the taste and texture of hand made Shou Mian does proves its worthiness compared to machine made.

The art and photography exhibition was held in a carpark similar to one that you can find in Tokyo Drift and I was just joking.

This is a Chinese Calligraphy. When I saw this, I was thinking what word are these? I study Chinese characters before. Then, I done some research and found out that these are old old Chinese characters which was used during the Ming Dynasty where the emperor have thousand of woman. Oh, man....

When I was walking around taking my sweet time in photographing, I came across this odd looking signage. Then, after interpreting, I say "Well, luckily I am a Sony user and not Nikon" So, I proceed on taking photographs. Did I break the rules, I dun think so.

To end this post in BCF, I will show you the Malaysia Boleh and Sarawak Boleh. These men are so inspiring, they are able to take their sticks and aim it high in the air. Oh, man. They do have very long and big sticks. Each being over 10 meters long.

(1) Bring insect repellent.
(2) Never use low shutter speed, it will screw up everything.
(3) Night-vision...Hmm....

Miri Jazz Fest. 2009

A Walk in Taiwan (IV) 《台湾之走》《第四篇》

Hi,

Since I am a bit free now, I have decided to update Day 4 also in A Walk in Taiwan Series. Have fun!

Early in the morning, we are drag to visit shops (ones that involves $).

A shop selling Chinese Fungus (灵芝).

Fungus that are processed and sliced. Nice looking ones.

Besides Fungus, they sell other stuff like this skeleton of a deer embryo. Scary.... Believe to have healing even. So, they are trying to say the death can help a person to live.

Believe it or not. These two packs of Fungus cost RM 2000++ Striking~!!

A jagung stall at the side of the road. Stop by to enjoy the food and sugar cane. Haha! Still like those corn. They have corn with sugar cane flavor. Meaning that the corn is cook in sugarcane syrup.

Nice scenery just behind the stall. I love Taiwan's terrain!

They do have a small baby Buddha too. Hehe! Cute!

Similar to most temples in Taiwan, they have this deep flavor of Chinese architecture.

Looks same as those you see in old style Chinese movie.

This is how my room in the farm looks like from the outside. Extremely nice morning.

That morning, we went to visit a temple which i find its architecture appealing. The temple in a fish village. I forgot the name already.

This is the temple where the statue was coated with pure gold.

Here is one interesting fish in a fishing village. It is a sturgeon but dried. It is actually taller than me.

After the fishing village, we went to the other town. On the way, we have lunch at one f the restaurant. They serve this lovely little bamboo that had mixed rice in it. Very convenient and nice.

Now, we are the far east of Taiwan. To go the the west side, the government has built a highway that cuts through the Taiwan Island literally. This East-West Highway cuts through mountains and took a lot of effort to built it.

This is one of the thousands of rock formation that you can find among the mountainous terrain. Some of the rocks actually look like something. I will leave that to your imagination.

This is one of the few hundreds of tunnels that are available.This one is called the Nine Curve Dragon Tunnel. Sorry for my bad translation.

After all the rocks n mountains, we find ourselves in among more rocks. But this time, we are at the precious stone manufacturing facility where they sell all kinds of stone. This particular ones is "Cats Eye" (猫眼石).

In that facility, they have a stone museum sort of thing.

At the same facility, they also have a sort of theater that promote the indigenous tribes' culture. This are one of there performance.

Curtin University Varsity Christian Fellowship (VCF) has been around near to when Curtin started. It is a group where all student from different denomination come together, have fellowship and worship the Lord. VCF has also come a long way and many student's life has been change through them. Hopefully, God will utilize more of VCF and change more lifes.

Coming to Day 2

We woke up like 6am (OMG~!, havn't done that since Secondary School) in the morning and heading towards our first destination of the day, Court of Indepedence 〈自由广场〉. This is where all the patriotic stuffs are put on display.

We went through the side gate. This place has four main gates, ie: North, South, East, West.

But I forgot which gate went into. The design of this building mimics the Ancient Chinese Architecture. A modern place with a nostalgic touch.
On the wall are the successor for Father of Taiwan (Sun Yat Seng), Mr. Chiang Kai Shek (蒋) and his First Lady who is equally influential and powerful as her hubby. As the saying goes, "Behind every successful man lies a powerful woman."
We end our tour in 自由广场 with a nice view. On both of the side are the opera house and musical hall that is on renovation. It is really the old in the new.
On the way towards Dan Shui (淡水), i saw how Taiwanese can used up every corner of the building for Advertisment. I don't think American's Billboard is better than this. Taiwanese are quite good at optimization.
Dan Shui (淡水) is considered a fisherman village. The sea is their life line. Similar to Dan Shui, many of Taiwan Cities is either situated near the sea or beside vast mountains.
In the city of Dan Shui (淡水), they do have their famous local delicacies. One of it is this thing called Ah Gei (阿给). Despite my gutz telling me not, I bought one and tried it. It is a big round Toufu (soy bean cake), with Bee Hoon Noodle in it and covered with fish meat. The whole thing is seasoned with some sort of similarity to spicy, sweet and sour sause. In brief, extra ordinary.
Another must buy delicacy of Dan Shui are these black egg also known as Steel Egg (铁蛋). They have many different flavours. Considerably cheap and worth a taste. I think you can only find this only in Taiwan.
After shopping in Dan Shui, the bus took us up hill to a historical small town called Jiu Fen (九份). There is a pretty interesing story on how this town's name came to be. Find it out for urself. Haha..Ok, Jiu Fen is also the scene for one of the famous Taiwan movie, "A City of Sadness《悲情城市》" Along this street, its like a Pasar Malam on the mountain. A lot of weird this can be found here.
Including one of these, Octopus Meat + Squid Black Ink Sausage. Sounds awful but taste kinda nice if you do not imagine the ink which is within the sausage. Recommended to try but not as a souvenier.
In of the stores, you can find this amazing thing called Ocarina (陶笛). It the pottery version of flute. One of it range from 200 to 1000 Taiwan Dollar which is RM 20++ to RM 100++. Me and my brother got one of these. Pretty cute and ideal for gifts. But be caution when you do your bag packing as it can break easily.What can be more amazing is to find seafood in the mountains. These are barbeque sea snails. I strongly encourage you to try even though i didn't try one.
This guy is one of the surviving chinese culture artist. He makes traditional name stamps (古代印章) which China Emperors used when Governing Ancient China. In Taiwan, these name stamps have be registered for it to be valid. People in Taiwan still prefer to use the name stamps for official documents. For more info, visit this website.
Taiwan is rich in Chinese Culture and are pretty good in putting the old touch in the modern. Like this label for women's toilet. People who dun recognize Chinese Character is in for a nice trip. Especially for guyz.
This one is for men. These two toilets does not have any doors. So, it will be nice experience to visit these washrooms.
Day 2 ends with a dinner at one of the farm which serves local dishes including one of these. If you are Malaysian, you most probably will not like the taste. This nice looking little things are Chicken Stock which is solidified and fried. One word, yuck~!!!

A Walk in Taiwan (I) 《台湾之走》《第一篇》

Hello, I back to blogging and to share wit you all what is up with me during the holidayz.

I just went to Taiwan to join a tour by Reliance (a "reknown" tour agent).

It is a 7 days 6 nights (or less) tour package.

Let's start with Day 1.

We took a 5 hours flight on board MAS Airlines. Damn, can I say the service is so compact. The plane seems like as 60 year old who drinks everyday.
What amazed me was this little thing in front of me that kept me awake for the whole long journey across countless enemy air space.

Surprisingly, this little thing have the latest movie like "Beverly Hills: ChiHuaHua".
p/s: The safety demo was pretty nice.

That evening we arrived at Taipei, the weather was very cold. Around 14C with wind blowing. Similar to what we will have in an air-con room in M'sia.
During the checking at the Immigration, my bro told me that this guy below is a celebrity. I was thinking like, he is a celebrity? Doesn't look like one to me. But my bro insisted he is one of the winners of Astro Star.

When we were waiting for our luggage, we saw this girl (which i think is awesome) with this little poochie. From what we know, that little fella can snift out any potential danger. I wonder durian is one of it?

And this is our Tour Guide, Ms. Woo Beautiful (吴美女）. She is one humourous woman but still she is a Taiwanese.
This is our tour bus that is harbouring us here and there all the way. It is a not 2 but a 1 and 0.5 decker. Itz amazing on what Taiwanese people can come out with. It seats around 44 ppl.

First stop of the night of Day 1 was the Shan De Hotel (三德酒店). As soon as we touch down n check in, I notice a typical 7-Eleven just beside the hotel. I decide to check it out. As i was damn hungry at that time, i bought some Instant Noodle. I notice a BIG dissimilarity and I mean BIG BIG difference.

Your eyes are looking at the real thing. Those are real prawns, meat, vegetables and whole lot of noodles.

Haiz....that why this is called Maggi Hot "Cup".

With the Made in Taiwan noodles nicely in my stomach. Day 1 in Taiwan ends with a nice peaceful sleep.

A "Lovely" World

After a long period of hybernation, I am back with a poem.
At last, I was driven and inspired by a strong emotion to write this post.

A Lovely World
What a wonderful World,
In fairytales t'was foretold,
Where good guys have gold,
And bad guys get cold.

Thought school life is the same,
T'was the reason i came,
Then, it turn out to be a risky game,
That involve conspiracy and fame.

Being in a family away from home,
All were good but some,
Am an acient insist in present to come,
Unable to let go of its old old dome.

An old man who don't age,
Still want to be on the same page,
Keep on stressing on his rage,
Try to get everyone in his cage.

I was left aside without a price,
Eventhough was given a vice,
Felt more useless than a rice,
Which can be so nice.

A family was felt no more,
With some member's a sore,
Who is the core,
Better make it clear before.

Ask to supervise,
Just give advice,
Try not to play the dice,
Let the new ones melt the ice.

Think not of your importance,
As every division have their own chance,
In the end of the dance,
All the roles are to enhance.

I hereby express myself,
Trying not to be grumpy as an elf,
Hope be taken seriously,
And not simply.

A lovely world indeed,
Twisted from the seed,
Grown to be different,
For the message to be sent.

New Cam on the Block

Just got a new Cam from my Mum. Whee~!!!
Here are some shots that I tested out when I juz got my Cam.

This is the Nasi Lemak for my breakfast. Yum yum~!!
The colour and details is quite good. I didn't even use Macro Mode.

The nightshot mode is quite good also, although i have zoom it and shaky.

Quite nice for the first few times that I tried out. Looking forward to test it out more.

Hmm.....Miri Jazz Fest' A wonderful moment that i will never forget. Things that happen in the event itself and in the rooms with Iqbal n Raymond. They did "something" to me. That was a fun time and also new exposure to me. Thatz why i decide to blog it, to remind myself of the Miri Jazz Festival. Here are some photos that i would like to share. Here is the Habana Sax from Cuba. They are the coolest group within the Miri Jazz Festival. They are Saxophone Quartets. Ranging from Soprano Sax to Baritone Sax.

[-Curtin Camp-Worth the Time-]

A few dayz ago, i went to tis Curtin Camp. Though as busy as i maybe, i said to myself to be in the camp at all times. With that, i stayed in the camp 24/7 despite having and exam in the coming Mon. Lotz of stuff happened in the camp. Through it, i learn a few words that i would like to share wit you all.

(1) Volunteerism: It means the spirit to volunteer without expecting any return. When i say without any return, it really means that this is a one way thing. You only give with your whole heart and not expecting anything back which includes also appreciation. Appreciation to what you have done is just a by product of volunteerism.

(2) Discipline: It means self control. The ability to command urself to do what is appropriate at the right time. Generally, the Curtin Students is a bit lacking of this element. Much to shown in this camp, both participant and the organizers shows not much of a discipline. Punctuality is one of the example of the discipline issue.

(3) Commitment: It means to put urself fully into it no matter what. What i saw in this camp is that there is no real commitment. Days by days, quite a number of members disappeared into thin air. For the organizing members(including), no 100% is shown. Sad to say, they didn't put effort that they should have into this camp. Only treating this camp like any other camp. Hopefully, more commitment can be seen. Commitments means that when you are in, you are and not going out once in a while.

I think that is what i seen(or some that i forgot) in the Curtin Camp. Although it is a "nice" experience but i look forward to a better camp next time. Hopefully, things will change for the better.

What is death?
Is it a process that everyone has to go through?
Why is death always a negative thing to look at?
Or it has a more meaningful meaning behind it....

Here is a true story to share with you,

Once upon a time, there is this University Student name Orell Gorge. He is the typical type of student that you see in everyday life. At home, he is sort of to say a good son and grandson.

A few months before he went away from home to further his study after high-school, his grandpa got a stroke and was bed-ridden. His grandpa is like another other grandparents who love his grandchildren. Everything changed since the stroke, the living room which his grandpa use to 'hang out' became empty. His grandpa is on the bed most of the time. Days went by, time became so much more obvious for his grandpa. With half paralysed body, there is nothing much grandpa can do than just to look at the same old ceiling everyday.

At first, his grandpa is able to sit on the wheel chair and watch TV. Days turn to a year, his grandpa weakens and can only be on the bed 24 hrs a day. A care taker is being employed to take care of his grandpa 24/7. Every time Orell come back from his studies, he could feel the agony of his grandpa. Imagine yourself, looking at the same ceiling everyday, could not move your right part of your body, could not even converse properly with your children and grandchildren. The feeling of irritation when you cannot get your message over to the other person. It would be like living in a different dimension of the same dimension. Yet, life still goes on.

Orell was in a dance competition and trained hard for it. On the night of the competition, his team lost. But nonetheless, they were having fun and have no regrets about it. After the competition, he got a stunning news from his home town. His grandpa just passed away a few hours after his dance competition. At that moment, he had mixed feelings. Normally, people will cry and get all moody and sad when death is heard. But, Orell felt sad and glad at the same time. He is also doubtful about his feelings.

Then, he come to realized about something. Death is not always a negative thing. Yes, we lost someone we loved so much. If we love someone, we would like that person to be happy. Death is also a happy thing. To him, his grandpa's death means that he(the grandpa) does not have to suffer the agony of staying on the bed any more. The family members does not have to worry about where to get the next care taker any more. Nonetheless, he still misses his grandpa a lot. The absence of his grandpa does touched the softest part of the strong man's heart but he thanked God for bringing his grandpa back to Heaven.

Death does hurt sometimes. But, if death were to affect the living negatively, the dead would not be dying in peace and happiness either. So, when something died (family members, love, feelings..etc). Look at it in a more positive way. Look beyond the tears and grunts. Love someone while he/she is alive and not regretting after the death.

After all these while (2 semesters), i finally broke my BLOODGINITY~!!! I donated 450ML of my virgin blood to the needy. Hehe~!!! I am so proud of myself....Weeee.......They thinkI think i m getting a bit high due to the lost of blood, similar to you feeling blur when you lost ur virginity.

Bt, they refuse to let me donate two packs. They think i m the weakest link(reference to May). Nonetheless, the feeling is good when you know your blood might help some1. For those who didn't dare or was rejected, i gonna see you on next semester's Blood Donation Drive~! Anyways, i will try to get the photos as soon as possible from Kelvin and Hisham to prove it. Mum~! Your son has make u proud~! Hehehe~!!!!
